Podcast: The business of sports and recreation

The pandemic had a disparate effect on sports and recreation in York County.

People flocked to golf courses and hiking trails, both perceived as relatively safe spaces.

But some sports were forced to cancel entire seasons. That was the case for the York Revolution baseball team, which had to come up with creative ways to keep revenue coming in the door.

This edition of the YCEA podcast, produced in partnership with biznewsPA, offers a look at the challenges and opportunities for sports and recreation now that most people have put the pandemic in the rearview mirror.

It features input from Matt DeRose, president of Heritage Hospitality; Bill Kunkel, club manager at Central Penn Sporting Clays and Game Preserve; and Eric Menzer, president of York Professional Baseball.

The next meeting of the YCEA Economics Club is scheduled for Feb. 22 at the Wyndham Garden York. The topic will be the economics of agriculture. More information is available here.
