Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry

Amy Brinton has been named a director of government affairs for the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry effective Aug. 26. A former staffer in the state legislature, Brinton is currently a lobbyist for Duquesne Light Co., a Pittsburgh-based electric utility.

Brinton will oversee the chamber’s lobbying efforts in key policy and regulatory areas, including energy and environmental issues.

“Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable to our members as we continue to advocate for policies that enhance Pennsylvania’s business environment and economic competitiveness,” chamber president and CEO Luke Bernstein said in a statement.

Brinton is taking a position that has been vacant since the departure of Kevin Sunday, who left the chamber last year for a policy role with Harrisburg law firm McNees Wallace & Nurick, according to a chamber spokesperson.

Her appointment comes as state officials roll out a nearly $400 million program to slash carbon emissions from heavy industries like cement manufacturing, steel production and coal mining. Gov. Josh Shapiro, meanwhile, is proposing plans to curb emissions from the power industry.
