Former cabinet plant sold for $3.3M

A growing metal fabrication company in York County has purchased the former Wayneco Cabinetry plant, which has been idle since the cabinetry business shut down this spring.

BMB Holdings LLC paid $3.3 million for the 81,000 square-foot facility, which is at 800 Hanover Road in Jackson Township, west of York city.

The new facility is roughly three times the size of BMB’s former home, a roughly 26,000 square-foot facility at 1760 Toronita St. in Manchester Township.

BMB and its subsidiaries — HOEM Inc., Precision Metal Fabricators and Bowlker Metal — do contract metal work for other manufacturers, and business has been growing, said Blaine Grove, president and co-owner.

“I would say, more of our customers are trying to bring the work closer to home,” Grove said.

He declined to disclose revenue but said the company employs 38 people, up from 28 a year ago.

The company also is hoping to expand its roofing metal business and its use of automation, Grove said.

Trading spaces: BMB sold its Toronita Street plant to a refrigeration services company, Grove said.

Nate Resh, a brokerage adviser at York-based ROCK Commercial Real Estate, represented BMB in the purchase of 800 Hanover Road, which was structured as a 1031 exchange.

Jason Turnbull and Kevin Hodge of ROCK represented the seller, Wayneco Inc.

David Bode of ROCK represented the buyer of the Toronita Street property, which sold for $2.23 million.

Resh and Turnbull represented BMB in the deal.

The trend: Other metal fabricators also have been expanding in the region this year.

However, industrial space can be hard to find, Resh said in a statement. “HOEM’s search was long and extensive, as this type of industrial real estate is at a premium right now due to lack of supply.”
