Podcast: Workforce Development

Business leaders may be wondering where they will find the skilled people they need to keep their companies running and growing in the years ahead.

This edition of the YCEA podcast, produced in partnership with biznewsPA, offers perspective from those in the trenches of training.

It features Pedro Rivera, president of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and a former secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education; Miranda Martz, pre-apprenticeship coordinator for the manufacturing applied technologies program at The Manufacturers Association in York; and Brian Paterniti, the association’s director of workforce development.

In addition to what they are doing at their own organizations, Rivera, Martz and Paterniti share tips on what employers could be doing differently, as well. They spoke in November at an event held by the Economics Club of the York County Economic Alliance.

The next meeting of the YCEA Economics Club is scheduled for Jan. 25 at the Wyndham Garden York. The topic will be York County’s recreational sports economy. More information is available here.
