Inch taps construction vet for ops/finance chief

Inch & Co. Holdings, a York County construction and real estate development firm, has hired Mike Benshoof as its first-ever chief operations and financial officer.

Benshoof, a construction industry veteran, was most recently president of Berks Homes, a regional home builder with offices in Mohnton, New Cumberland and State College.

“We’re very, very happy to have him on board,” said Jeff Inch, a co-owner of Inch & Co.

Benshoof brings decades of experience in operating and scaling profitable construction companies, experience that is expected to benefit Inch & Co., Inch said.

“We have an aggressive growth strategy for our company, and he keeps us inside the guardrails to make sure we are good stewards of the capital that has been allocated to us,” Inch said.

The career: Benshoof got his start working for his family’s remodeling and home-building business.

After college, he joined home-building giant NVR in production and sales management.

He then worked as director of business analysis in the economics group of the National Association of Homebuilders, an industry trade group.

Benshoof founded a consulting business in 2002 and, five years later, launched a homebuilding company called Red Door Homes

He bought a stake in Berks Homes in 2015 and sold his stake earlier this year. Under his leadership, Berks Homes grew from annual revenue of $32 million to more than $200 million, according to a bio provided by Inch.

He remains chairman of Red Door.

The background: Inch & Co. employs more than 350 people and does about $120 million in annual revenue, Inch said.

The company operates construction, development, brokerage and property management arms, as well as a sports unit.

The company recently unveiled plans to raise a $20 million investment fund focused on multifamily develop ment. And it plans to break ground this fall on a sports complex in North York.
