An affiliate of the nonprofit developer Harristown Enterprises is carving up a pair of vacant rowhomes at 104 and 106 Walnut St. in Harrisburg into four apartment units, ranging in size from 910 square feet to 1,690 square feet.
The Harristown affiliate, Charming on Walnut LLC, bought the two Depression-era buildings in December 2023 in a partnership with DH Mowery Investments LLC. The buildings’ previous owners were related entities N&R Group LLC and N&R Properties LLC.
The property at 104 Walnut St. cost $102,600, while 106 Walnut St. went for $167,400, according to county deed records. They sit across the street from the recently renovated McCormick Riverfront Library.
The renovation work is expected to cost about $750,000 and wrap up by the end of the year, according to Harristown spokesperson Julie Shade.
Each apartment will have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The largest apartment, on the second floor of 106 Walnut, will include a third-floor loft, Shade said.
The trend: Harristown has been working over the last few years to convert downtown Harrisburg buildings into residential space.
The four new residential units on Walnut Street will bring Harristown’s total to 252 units.
