A Harrisburg-area engineering firm has added two new offices, including its first-ever location in Maryland.
- HRG has opened offices in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and Hagerstown, Maryland, hoping to make greater inroads in both areas.
- The additions bring the firm, based in Swatara Township, Dauphin County, to a dozen offices, with 10 in Pennsylvania and one each in Maryland and West Virginia.
Why is this happening: HRG has picked up clients in both Fayette County and the Hagerstown area.
- In Fayette, the employee-owned firm is working with county commissioners on a new infrastructure bank designed to help local governments fund buildings, roads and water/wastewater projects.
- Several water and sewer authorities in the area, meanwhile, have retained HRG as their engineer.
- In the Hagerstown area, HRG is working with several contractors on a new graduate student housing facility for a new osteopathic medical school.
- The firm also has a long-term plan to expand in Maryland, specifically Frederick and Washington Counties, according to HRG COO Ed Ellinger.
- “This region matches the key characteristics of the communities HRG typically serves,” Ellinger said in a statement. “It has strong community involvement and a forward-looking vision for growth.”
The background: Originally known as Herbert Rowland & Grubic, HRG employs 373 people and had revenue last year of nearly $60 million, according to spokesperson Judith Lincoln.
