Dickinson College

Seth Allen has been named vice president of enrollment management and dean of admissions at Dickinson College. He succeeds Cathy McDonald Davenport, who retired in 2023 after more than three decades with the Carlisle college.

Allen worked most recently as vice president for strategy and dean of admissions and financial aid at Pomona College in Claremont, California, where he oversaw an increase in applications and diversity.

He also was president of Common Application, the entity overseeing the admissions application used by more than 1,000 colleges.

In addition, he is a founding director of the Coalition for College, a nonprofit that works with students from communities that are marginalized or underrepresented in higher education.

Allen is no stranger to Dickinson — he was director, then dean of admissions from 1999 to 2007.

“We are thrilled to welcome Seth back to Dickinson,” college president John E. Jones III said in a statement. “His deep understanding of the college, combined with his proven track record in enrollment management, will be invaluable as we continue to attract exceptional students to our campus.”
