Harrisburg-based Andculture is poised to become part of Chicago-based accounting and advisory firm RSM US LLP.
RSM said Thursday it has reached an agreement to buy Andculture, which specializes in marketing strategy, design and technology,
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. But it is expected to close June 1, according to a press release. RSM was advised in the transaction by Arizona-based advisory firm martinwolf.
Once the deal closes, RSM will absorb Andculture’s nearly 60 employees and the Andculture name will be dropped, according to RSM spokesperson Kim Bartok.
Andculture executives, meanwhile, will establish a human-centered design practice under the umbrella of RSM’s consulting practice.
The Andculture execs — founder and CEO David Hickethier, president Joshua Benton and chief experience architect Evan Keller — will become consulting principals at RSM.
They will offer services to RSM’s clients and possibly apply their expertise to RSM’s existing services, according to a press release.
“We look forward to bringing RSM’s clients marketing strategy, design and technology capabilities to craft end-to-end experiences that help them achieve and exceed their business goals,” Hickethier said in a statement. “Similarly, we are pleased to make RSM’s world-class audit, tax and consulting services available to our clients, and happy for the opportunity to help our people grow in their careers with access to new training, development and advancement opportunities at RSM.”
What is RSM: The fifth-largest accounting firm in the U.S., according to Accounting Today.
- The firm employs nearly 13,000 people in 83 cities around the U.S. and Canada.
- Its Pennsylvania offices are in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Blue Bell.
- As part of RSM, Andculture will continue to work out of its office in Harrisburg’s Old Waterworks building on North Front Street, according to Bartok.
The trend: Law and accounting firms have been looking to diversity their services, and marketing is among those being added to the menu.
- Lancaster law firm Saxton & Stump operates a marketing subsidiary, while Harrisburg law firm McNees Wallace & Nurick has a subsidiary specializing in communications.
